Boeing has a long history of supplying aircraft and other equipment to the military. Along with its aerospace subsidiaries Insitu and Aurora Flight Sciences, Boeing is the top patent owner in the UAV space. In particular, its unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) have been gaining traction in the market. In February 2019, Boeing introduced its Airpower Teaming System, developed with the Australian government. The system utilizes an unmanned fighter drone that operates either independently or in conjunction with manned aircraft in a safe and effective configuration. Boeing is also currently developing the MQ-25, a carrier-based unmanned aircraft for which Boeing was awarded a $805 million contract from the US Navy last year.
